Google My Business – How You Can Create A Listing

Google My Business is where you can add a free business listing on Google. When talking to other people about social media and how to increase your businesses exposure, I’ve mentioned Google My Business and nine times out of ten the person I’m speaking with doesn’t know what that is. Basically by creating a listing it increases your brand awareness and gives you another free avenue to advertise your business and be found, especially because Google is such a large and popular search engine.

A Google My Business Listing looks like the screenshot below. As you can see it shows;

  • Any reviews left on Google+
  • Address/Map
  • Phone Number
  • Business Hours
  • Reviews from the web including Facebook

The Importance of Using Social Media Marketing For Your Business

The Importance of Using Social Media Marketing For Your Business

There are so many aspects to consider when starting your business. You’ve got your business plan, then process of creating your business from scratch, your strategy, and then you’ve got your marketing strategy too, but are you including social media as a part of that strategy?

With research from Statista.com estimating that by 2018 there will be approximately 2.67 billion active social media users worldwide you’d be nuts not to incorporate social media into your advertising and marketing.

If you are using social media but only utilizing 1-2 platforms you are limiting your exposure and you need to analyse and work out which platform is going to work best for you and your business, and no that doesn’t mean signing up for multiple social media platforms and then leaving half of them with no activity, as this can be detrimental to your business.

With Instagram having 600 million active users this is the perfect platform for a product based business to showcase their products however if you are a service based business you can find it difficult to incorporate this in your strategy. However you may find that LinkedIn would be the better option for you as you are able to target a group of likeminded people in a more professional setting.

Social Media Marketing is not just pushing out content to your fans and followers it’s about adding personality to your profile and brand and keeping them engaged and giving them something valuable without flooding them with too much information, depending on the platform. Giving them useful tips by running #tiptuesday or adding quotes and blogs you’ve written so your followers get an idea about you too.

I’ve been asked the question many times, what is the best time to post? Unfortunately there is no easy answer. You can go by the information on the internet and other blog posts but in the end it actually comes down to your own analytics, and what your fans and followers are doing as each business will have a different outcome and set of results.

Using programs such as Google Analytics, Statcounter, Hootsuite, Facebook and Twitter insights this will give you a starting point and a better understanding of your audience and allowing you to adopt the appropriate social marketing strategy for your business.

How to find the right time to post on Facebook

How to find the right time to post on Facebook

Facebook has 15 million users in Australia alone, so the chances of your content and posts being seen on Facebook are definately higher than the others. My question to you is ‘Do you know when your fans are online?’

With so many changes to Facebook have you explored all the insights features? If not then you’re missing out and possibly not posting at the appropriate times.  This is how you can get an advantage and understanding on when you should be posting on Facebook for optimal reach.

Go to your Facebook page

Click on Settings

Go to Insights

Click on posts

You will then see a graph like this which will give you the days of the week Sunday through to Saturday. This shows you the past week and the optimal times during the week that your fans were online.

Hovering over a day for instance Sunday you can see the line appear on the graph showing you the trend for Sunday and when your fans were online, it does appear in your local time zone.

Below is a snapshot of Wednesday and you can see the line graph does change.

It can definitely get confusing and frustrating not knowing when you should be posting online however hopefully this will give you a better understanding on when you should be posting to Facebook so you can reach your audience.
