For me I find working from home a privilege. I love having the flexibility to spend more time at home with my daughter, do some work and also take care of some household chores. All in a day’s work! These personally make my list of top benefits.

  • You have flexibility with your schedule giving you the opportunity to spend more time with your family
  • If you’ve got children you can still work and be a stay at home mum/dad at the same time which in turn means you can save on daycare costs.
  • No more travelling to and from work saving you money on travel expenses and even maintenance on your vehicle, if you have one. You also save countless hours on travel.
  • And you don’t have to dress to impress you can wear whatever you want, no more uniforms.

If you already work from home or are thinking of starting your business working from home have a look at these tips to keep yourself on track.

  1. Shift work is best. Set a schedule and stick to it. Allocate shifts so you’re not sitting for continuous amounts of time. You’ll also find that you will work more productively and also keep yourself organised.
  2. It can be very easy to get distracted working from home. You might think I’ll quickly put the washing on or I’ll just make a cup of coffee, quickly losing your focus. Make sure that you try to complete you’re household bits and pieces in between your shifts.
  3. Keep yourself active. Get up and moving for at least 5 minutes every 30 – 60 minutes. This will help with your posture as well as relieving some strain on your eyes.
  4. Get some fresh air, take a walk to clear your mind and re-energize yourself. You’ll find yourself more focused after a bit of exercise and sun.
  5. You may start to feel like you’re isolated that’s why it’s imperative that you stay connected to the outside world, not only in a business capacity but also socially. Keep attending those networking events and spend some time with friends relaxing.

By following these tips your days should be happy and productive. Good Luck!
